1973 Triumph TR6

This 1973 Triumph TR6 is finished in DuPont IMRON yellow, a repaint over the car's original white factory color. The car was disassembled for roughly 38 years before its current reassembly, and the seller reports approximately 100 miles added since. The 2.5-liter inline-six is paired with a non-overdrive 4-speed manual transmission and dual carburetors, rebuilt and tuned in January 2026. The car has a professionally restuffed seat interior, a new vinyl convertible top, new carpeting, and new sound deadening. The title history shows one previously titled owner; the seller believes the car had a second, untitled owner who held it from 1987 until the current seller's August 2025 purchase. The car is for sale by a private owner.

OVERVIEW

The Triumph TR6 was introduced in 1969 as a re-skinned successor to the TR5/TR250, sharing that model's 2,498cc inline-six. The engine was offered in two distinct forms by market: a fuel-injected version for the UK and Europe (150 bhp, de-rated to 125 bhp starting in 1973 via revised camshaft and injection metering), and a carbureted version for the US market, rated at 104 bhp, which is what this car has. This car's commission number, CF10506U, falls within the documented 1973 model-year range (CF1U-CF12500U) for US-market carbureted TR6s, per the Vintage Triumph Register's production records. 1973 also brought a factory running change relevant to this car: an air dam fitted below the front bumper, a change made partway through the model's production run. The TR6 remained in production through 1976, when it was replaced by the TR7, and was the most-produced TR model up to that point. The model is supported today by the Vintage Triumph Register, a national marque club for Triumph owners.

EXTERIOR

The exterior was originally white and has been repainted bright yellow in DuPont IMRON, known for its durability and shine. The body was separated during an extended refurbishment and subsequently reassembled upon acquisition by the current owner. The car retains its stock steel wheels with trim rings and thin redline tires, and a new white replacement vinyl convertible top has been installed. No corrosion or accident history is reported by the seller, and a clean title is confirmed. The car features the original 1973 US-market specification bumpers and lighting.

INTERIOR

The interior features brown upholstery with professionally restuffed seats, new carpeting, and added sound deadening. The door panels are restored in brown vinyl with chrome hardware, and the car retains its original trim and switchgear. Instrumentation and controls present the standard layout for the 1973 model year TR6.

MECHANICAL

The car is powered by the TR6's 2,498cc inline-six in US-market carbureted form, paired with a non-overdrive 4-speed manual transmission. The dual carburetors were sent out for professional rebuild and tuning, completed in January 2026. Recent work includes a full mechanical sorting during reassembly, with attention to operational reliability.
