1959 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special

The Sixty Special is distinguished at the beltline; its side moldings converge to a point beneath the tail fins rather than running continuously along the body, and the rear doors carry simulated side scoops, two details absent on the Series Sixty-Two. The body is finished in Ebony Black (code 10); small bubbles under the paint are noted in isolated areas. Bullet-style front and rear grilles, quad headlights, fog lights, fender skirts, a power antenna, reverse lights, and dual exhaust outlets dress the exterior, with tail fins carrying integrated taillights and chrome bumpers, window surrounds, and trim throughout. The cabin wears black cloth and white leather, Trim 60, the Sixty Special's formal two-tone specification with matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting throughout. Bench seating front and rear incorporates fold-down center armrests in both rows; the front seat is six-way power-adjustable. A two-tone steering wheel with a chrome horn ring faces a horizontal 120-mph speedometer flanked by coolant temperature and fuel level gauges. Equipment includes the Autronic-Eye automatic headlight dimmer, power windows, power vent windows, power locks, cruise control, an AM radio, factory air conditioning, courtesy lighting, and a functional trunk pull-down.

The 390ci V8 arrived with the 1959 model year, Cadillac's new displacement for the era, rated at 325 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque with a four-barrel carburetor, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed Hydra-Matic. Power steering is fitted along with aftermarket air shocks; power-assisted drums handle braking at each corner, with the brake fluid flushed by the selling dealer. The seller reports the heater core was rebuilt, a heater box valve was replaced, the coolant flushed, and the oil changed in preparation for the sale. The white-wall tires were added this year.
