2.7L Powered 1973 Porsche 911T Targa
This 1973.5 Porsche 911T Targa is finished in Silver Metallic over black leatherette; the five-digit odometer was repaired in 2000, has since rolled over, and now reads 14,000 miles; two owners prior, estimate roughly 70,000 miles have been added since the car was purchased in January 1977, with total mileage unknown. Power comes from a 2.7-liter flat-six sourced from a 1974 Porsche 911 and installed around 2000 by European Autotech of San Ramon, California, with a top-end rebuild completed in 2007; drive goes through a five-speed manual transaxle. The car was repainted in 1993 and does show minor wear consistent with the mileage. The Appearance Group is fitted, along with 15″ Fuchs wheels, front sport seats, a removable black Targa top, and a Pertronix electronic ignition system. The car was purchased in January 1977 and remained in the same family for 48 years until the previous owner purchased the car in 2025 and then subsequently sold it to the selling dealer in 2026; it is offered on the owner's behalf with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, purchase receipts from 1977, and service records tracing to the 1970s. A clean California title accompanies the car.

OVERVIEW
The 1973 911T represents the final year of the original long-hood 911. Porsche moved to the G-series impact-bumper design for 1974, making 1973 the last production year of the body that had defined the car since 1964. The Targa body style, introduced in 1967 and named for Porsche's successive victories at the Targa Florio, combined open-air driving with the structural backbone of the stainless-clad roll bar and removable roof panel. The T designation placed it as the entry-level 911 variant, with softer cam timing and lower compression relative to the E and S, though the platform and fundamental character were shared across all three. Cars carrying four-plus decades of documented single-family ownership are uncommon in any segment of the collector market. Long-hood 911 values have appreciated steadily through the 2010s and 2020s, and specialist support remains broadly accessible through Porsche Classic and an established network of independent suppliers.
EXTERIOR
The car is finished in silver paint, with a respray in 1993, and features a black removable Targa roof panel and chrome trim along the windows and door handles. Exterior equipment includes 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels with black centers and polished lips, ventilated disc brakes at all four corners, front-mounted fog lights, and integrated amber turn signal lenses. The rear window is a fixed wraparound glass unit, a design specific to later Targa models. The front and rear bumpers feature rubber-tipped overriders. A driver-side mirror and discreet Porsche badging are present. The car rides on period-correct sidewall tires.
INTERIOR
The cabin is trimmed in black leatherette with front sport seats and fold-down rear seats; carpets and headliner have been replaced. VDO instrumentation consists of a central tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, engine temperature, and oil pressure, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Air conditioning and a Pioneer AM/FM CD stereo are installed with aftermarket speakers in the door panels. Carpeted floor mats are included.
MECHANICAL
The 2.7-liter flat-six currently fitted was sourced from a 1974 Porsche 911 and installed on August 8, 2000 by European Autotech of San Ramon, California, along with a front oil cooler from a 1981 911 SC; Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection is fitted. A comprehensive top-end rebuild was completed on April 27, 2007 at an indicated 6,871 miles and included high-performance pistons and cylinders, fly-cut cylinder heads, a full valve job with replacement of all valve guides, stem seals, springs, and intake and exhaust valves, new timing chains and ramps, a 1984 Carrera-style chain tensioner set, replacement oil sender tubes, Pertronix electronic ignition, and a machined flywheel; a battery kill switch was also installed under the hood at that time. The seller notes no oil leaks. Work in 2019 included a valve adjustment and replacement of spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, distributor cap and rotor, fuel accumulator, and fuel hoses; the alternator was replaced in 2022. An oil change and battery replacement were performed for the sale. The five-speed manual transaxle received a fluid change in 2025. Rear brake calipers, pads, and rotors were replaced in 2014. The parking brake was replaced in 2022, adjusted in 2023, and the brake fluid was flushed in April 2025. Bilstein shocks are fitted at each corner. Front trunk struts were replaced in 2025.
