1965 Ford Mustang Fastback K-Code 4-Speed

Wimbledon White covers the Fastback body with Guardsman Blue racing stripes running over the hood and roof, the correct GT-350 color combination. GT.350 rocker panel graphics are applied. A Shelby-style black mesh grille replaces the factory corral; a hood scoop is fitted. Five American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wear BFGoodrich 225/60-15 tires with custom one-off Shelby center caps. The restoration was carried out at Salter's Mustangs in Pace, Florida, and included new floor pans and new frame rail extensions.

The original red vinyl has been replaced with a black interior consistent with the GT-350 tribute presentation. A wood-rimmed Shelby GT-350 three-spoke steering wheel with a Cobra GT-350 horn button is fitted. The factory instrument cluster is retained; a dash-top pod mounts a period tachometer on the passenger side. The Hurst Competition Plus shifter rises from the center tunnel. A factory-look radio occupies the center stack below a Mustang badge plate. Black carpet runs the floor throughout.

The block (C5AE-6015-A) has been bored 0.030 over to 293ci and fitted with flat-top pistons, a balanced rotating assembly with ARP 190,000 psi rod bolts, a Shelby intake manifold, a Holley 600 double-pumper carburetor, ported and polished 1965 K-code heads with hardened valve seats, a Competition Cam (.534 lift), roller rocker arms, and Shelby valve cover breathers. A correct K-code double-spring fuel pump with canister filter and 5/16-inch stainless steel fuel lines are fitted. Tri-Y headers feed a Flowmaster dual exhaust. A Modine 4-core radiator is installed. The Toploader four-speed close-ratio transmission was rebuilt at 83,900 miles and is paired with a Hayes competition clutch and Hurst Competition Plus shifter. A Ford 9-inch rear axle with a 3.50:1 Auburn limited-slip differential is installed. Front disc brakes with an adjustable proportioning valve replace the original front drums. Shelby OEM springs and traction bars are fitted. A new gas tank and sending unit were installed during the restoration. The odometer shows 22,872 miles; total mileage is unknown. The speedometer was repaired and reset to zero under prior Florida ownership, with 78,000 miles on the odometer documented at that time.
